The upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) integration in 2015 turns ASEAN into a single market and production base. Given that building innovative capacity is an important factor for increasing and sustaining national competitiveness, the performance of each country is strongly influenced by a set of government policies to allocate scarce resources and make use of science, technology, and innovation in the process in promoting economic growth. The AEC integration will offer new business opportunities and market development. Under a wider market opportunity of AEC integration, the AEC countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) have revisited their policies to improve competitiveness.
The Department of Physics State University of Malang (UM), collacorated with HFI and LIPI will be holding The 5th International Conference on Advanced Materials Science and Technology (ICAMST) on September, 27-28, 2016 at the Cakrawala Hall in UM, Malang, Indonesia. With the accelerated deepening and broadening of regional economic integration in the Southeast Asia, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) envisioned in the 2015 ASEAN Vision is taking shape. The 5th ICAMST will address among the many important issues and important topics in materials sciences and technology. Leading Indonesian and ASEAN and International scholars and experts will be invited to attend the Conference, to exchange views and discuss issues relating to those most important and timely issues in the mentioned topics. The Conference aims to help participants to develop a more in-depth understanding of recent developments in the materials sciences and technology, while also providing a forum for analysis and formulation of policy recommendations.
