Abstract: ICT can be used in designing and implementing an instructional program (a designed student-centred instruction ) based on constructivist, hands-on inquiry and context-based approaches. The model involves four steps: introduction, handson inquiry, class discussion and application. The main tools used here are computer and internet or World Wide Web. Those tools use in designing the model, writing lesson plans, writing handouts, worksheet or digging information during the lessons taking place.

Abstract: Many efforts have been done by Indonesian government to reform science education. The essence of the reform lies on decentralized educational system, competence-based curriculum, and reform of learning paradigm. The new curriculum 2006 suggests that pedagogy at all educational levels should be student-centered. In fact, however, many new instructional strategies haven’t really implemented in teachers’ profession. This because teacher s don’t have supporting teaching culture dan there is no adequate system for teachers’ professional development. The purpose of this research is to examine the process of lesson study as an innovative approach dan to see its effectiveness in practice. Research subjects were 19 persons of MGMP chemistry teachers in Pasuruan City. The research was conducted in semester II 2008/2009 and semester II 2009/2010. Research design was descriptive qualitatively. Data was collected by observation, field note, interview and documentation and data in the form of interview transcript, field note, observation record and document. The data was content -analised, triangulated with other data and the results were described qualitatively and narratively. Results reveal that the lesson study activities done are effective in improving students’ active participation, instructional practice for students and teachers’ acquisition in professional development, teachers’ skills in classroom management, and teachers have positive perceptions towards the lesson study.
Abstrak: Berbagai upaya dilakukan pemerintah Indonesia untuk memperbaharui pendidikan sains. Esensi dari pembaharuan tersebut terletak pada diterapkannya sistem pendidikan desentralisasi, kurikulum berbasis kompetensi dan reformasi paradigma belajar. Kurikulum baru 2006 menyarankan agar pedagogi yang diterapkan di semua level pendidikan seharusnya berpusat pada siswa. Namun kenyataan selama ini adalah berbagai strategi pembelajaran baru/ tidak pernah benar-benar diterapkan dalam profesi mengajar guru. Penyebabnya adalah kultur mengajar guru tidak mendukung dan tidak ada sistem yang memadai dalam pengembangan profesi guru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji proses lesson study, sebagai pendekatan inovatif, dan melihat keefektifannya dalam praktek pembelajaran. Subyek penelitian adalah guru-guru kimia MGMP di Kota Pasuruan sebanyak 19 orang. Penelitian dilakukan pada semester II 2008/2009 dan semester II 2009/2010. Rancangan penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan cara observasi, catatan lapangan (field note), wawancara, dan dokumentasi dan data berupa transkrip interview, catatan lapangan, catatan observasi dan dokumen. Data ini dianalisis kontennya, ditriangulasikan dengan data yang lain dan hasilnya dideskripsikan secara kualitatif dan naratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan lesson study yang telah dilakukan memberikan hasil yang efektif ditinjau dari meningkatnya partisipasi aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran, meningkatnya praktek pembelajaran yang dilakukan siswa dan perolehan guru dalam pengembangan profesi, meningkatnya ketrampilan guru dalam mengelola kelas, dan persepsi guru yang positif tentang kegiatan lesson study.
