UTM Tropical Rainforest Summer School 2018
It is our pleasure to invite you to join our UTM Tropical Rainforest Summer School 2018 to be held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from 5th to 18th August 2016.
This UTM Tropical Rainforest Summer School 2018 is organized by the Faculty of Science, UTM in collaboration with the Research Centres (UTM-CIAM, CSNano and Laser Centre) and UTM International. The aim of this summer school program is for the participants to experience Malaysian tropical rainforest as they explore its wonderful layers with us atFaculty of Science, UTM. We offer outdoor exploration activities for you to interact and observe the amazing ecosystem and biodiversity of the tropical rainforest. The participants will also be given the opportunity to utilize the natural resources of tropical rainforest and conduct data sampling to be applied in research-based technologies in field of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at our laboratories.
This summer, we are anticipating more than 30 students from universities all over the world. The participants will be exposed to the theories and practices in exploring local tropical rainforest unique biodiversity.

Persiapan Akreditasi SAR AUN-QA FMIPA UM
Pada hari Rabu dan Kamis tanggal 2-3 Mei 2018 di FMIPA UM telah menghadirkan Prof. Dr.Satria Bijaksana dalam rangka mempersipakan akreditasi SAR AUN-QA maka tim penyusunan Borang SAR AUN-QA Prodi Fisika dan Prodi Biologi telah menyelesaikan penyusunan Self Asessment Report For AUN-QA, dan telah dikirimkan ke Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana (ITB) untuk disimulasikan. Simulasi assessment Asean University Network Quality Assurance (AUN QA) menghadirkan Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana dari Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) dengan didampingi Maria Hidayati, S.S., M.Pd selaku Tim AUN-QA UM. Simulasi eksternal ini bertujuan untuk menyamakan persepsi dari seluruh tim penyusun Self Asessment Report For AUN-QA di FMIPA, terutama mengenai struktur kurikulum, Program Learning Outcome, dan Full Time Employment (FTE).
Hasil simulasi menunjukkan nilai Full Time Employment (FTE) yang masih belum tepat cara perhitungan. Data-data tentang suportting staff berupa training and development staff serta daftar pelatihan yang telah diikuti (PLP dan Tenaga kependidikan) 5 tahun terkahir yang perlu disiapkan oleh bagian kepegawaian FMIPA UM. Sejarah singkat UM antara Self Assessment Report (SAR) Prodi Fisika dan Biologi berbeda, diharapkan pada perbaikannya more or less the same. ELO (capaian pembelajaran) perlu dihubungkan dengan visi dan misi UM.
Dalam simulasi ini Prof. Dr. Satria Bijaksana (ITB) menegaskan bahwa kejujuran adalah yang utama. Assessment SAR AUN-QA pada dasarnya bukan mencari kesalahan. Tetapi memproofing self assesment yang telah dilaporkan sebelumnya, dimana pada laporan Self Assessment Report (SAR) tersebut mencakup kelebihan dan kekurangan masing masing prodi. Jadi Assessment SAR AUN-QA bukanlah seperti pada saat visitiasi akreditasi oleh BAN-PT yang memiliki standar dokumen rujukan, tetapi mencari kondisi yang kondusif yang kita harapkan. Assessment SAR AUN-QA pada dasarnya untuk meng-improve kekurangan kekurangan kita menjadi lebih baik. Dalam penyusunan dokumen Self Assessment Report (SAR) harus konsisten dengan mutu yang merupakan Visi FMIPA.
Selain memvisitasi dokumen SAR AUN-QA, Assessment SAR AUN-QA juga akan melekasanakan visitasi lapangan, pada saat visitasi lapangan diharapkan dapat tampil sebaik mungkin, namun perlu diingat untuk bersikap wajar dan apa adanya, Honesty is priority. Jika memang terdapat kekurangan, akan kita cari solusinya bersama sama.
